Documentation for ASTRO101.BAS
This program in BASICA will convert any Equatorial Coordinate (given
in Right Ascension and Declination) to Horizon System coordinates.
Azimuth begins at 0 degrees at the northernmost point on the horizon
then goes to 90 degrees at due East then 180 degrees at due South, 270 degrees
West and 360 degrees back at North. In this system the horizon is assumed
flat without obstructions and is assumed to be perfectly circular. Altitude
begins at zero on the horizon to a maximum of 90 degrees directly overhead.
The results of the program will be based on the exactness of the
latitude and longitude coordinates you give it for your location. At the time
you specified in the program, stand outside and face the azimuth location from
north that the program gave you. At that point on the horizon move up the
number of degrees of altitude. When you reach that location (preferably
pointing with your finger or whatever), you will be pointing to the spot in
the sky that corresponds with the Equatorial coordinates given in the program.
This can be used in coordination with the planetary program (ASTRO106)
to pinpoint the planets and other programs which I will be uploading in the
future. If you have any questions, here is my pertinent information:
